In the Potsdam city centre stands the Old City Hall. On top you can see the golden Atlas, carrying the world on his shoulder and shining in the autumn sun. In this building, the director of the Moses Mendelssohn Centre (my work place), Prof. Dr. Julius Schoeps, was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz 1st class today, Germany's highest decoration, for his Lebenswerk.
