I know little of oriental garden design.
Western garden design is all about fashion & aesthetics.
What I have seen of Oriental gardens they have more elemental & spiritual function.
Lovely place & I can see why you go there in your breaks.

days ago my students had a discussion about eastern and western archetitectures .some in favour of western style , some prefer oriental characeristics .i stood in the middle :):):) , my comments made my kids laugh .
