The old maple sugar camp. A busy place in the early spring in Canada and upper U.S. Making maple syrup requires a lot of fuel to boil maple sap into syrup .

Thanks senna. Maple syrup making brings back memories of days growing up in rural eastern Canada. Helping gather sap, boiling it for hours, and the annual "sugaring off party" . ( ie. making maple syrup taffy on snow, very sweet; but what a treat.)

Interesting info and an intriguing building

This building is more ornate than most maple sugar buildings. These buildings are designed to get rid of the steam as water is evaporated from the sugar in the maple sap.
People in the past have tried this process in their house and found that adding all of this moisture to the interior of their home does things to the "decor" .
