Willa...are these the horses that have the different gallup...I once saw a program about horses that had a very smooth ride...looks very much like these...
Yes Jakeobean, they have 5 different types, dont know the english name for it, but i think that most have 4, they are very smooth but you can find some that arent and you dont want to ride them. Due to the fact that Iceland is an island and we have strong rules we have been able to keep it "clean" since the first icelanders came in the 874. If a horse is sold to abroad it cant come back home, and the icelandic type is the only type here.

Willa...it is great that you have these kind of rules...it keeps an atmosphere of originality....someday I want to visit Iceland...I have always admired all the photographs taken there....so beautiful.....
