The entire project is creation of architect Oscar Niemeyer. It was built based on the shape of pine (Araucaria angustifolia), typical tree of Paraná's flora. Popularly known as "eye." An underground tunnel connects the two buildings. They are 35,000 m˛ of built area, more than half of this space for exhibitions. It is one of the largest museums in Latin America.
