It's a classic late Victorian pub, with the stunning billiard (now pool) room being especially noteworthy. Probably the grandest space in a London pub you can chalk your cue in, but even with the grand skylight above you, the framed picture on the wall of Alf Garnett means you can't forget where this one's loyalties lie. It's certainly worth the journey out east for a look at its interior but unless your veins run with Claret and Blue, leave it to the West Ham fans come match day. A rather limited selection of drinks, but hey, you're either here for a pre-match booze up or an architectural appreciation, so you'll hear few complaints from the gathered throng. | |
