The firefighters had thrown everything out of the apartment, as they normally do. The wood stuff had been the first burning problem, it got hit by a rocket. But at the balcony also a gas bottle had been standing around and lit up, so the balcony burned that hot that only the steel is there, no concrete anymore...

Here in Germany this stuff is very normal. The fire fighters have a heavy night at December 31st, it has a bit of assembly line work: they come with blue flashing lights to a fire, extinguish it and drive on with flashing lights upto the next burning house. At least it's like this here in Berlin... A friend of mine is working in the emergency station at a hospital. He always thanx god for not having to work at this day because normally you're standing knee-deep in the blood from 6 o'clock in the evenig upto 6 o'clock in the new year's morning: people with burned flash or even ripped off bones from crackers etc...
