I haven't been here for a while therefore I'm coming back with a nice little story:

I bought a 16 GB SD card via internet (this stuff's getting cheaper, it's a class-6-SDHC-card for 73 Euro, including packaging and shipping!). They send me this box. This BIG BOX! For an SD-card! something very small. Almost as small as the 2-Euro-Coin at the top (just for the feeling of measurements)...

Hehe....thatīs pretty extreme, all right!
But the strange thig about this (in my eyes, anyway) is, -why buy a 16mb memorycart at all???

Oookayyy....I just noticed when I was in the process of writing the last message, that it was *not* a 16 mb card, but a 16 Gb card.
A tiiiny difference ;-D
I didnīt even know these existed at all!

Right now I'd say 16 GB is enough, I didn't have to change the chip in our last holiday. But I guess cameras with more megapixels will come and the movie-capabilities of those cams also become better, so I'd say, even 32 GB might be not enough for the future. But: 32 GB is the upper limit of SDHC (the first chips will be sold mid of this year I read). Very clever of those bad standardization guys. They hope we buy and buy and buy. But all I can see is that I'm one of the few using the SDHC card standard. Most of the people I know are satisfied with standard SD format which stops officially at 2 GB and inofficially at 4 GB...

Aha! It was a SDHC card!
So I was right after all when I thought that 2GB, or possibly 4 GB were the biggest.
I bought a 1GB SD (standard) card for my 4megapixel camera a couple of years ago and I havenīt ever been in the situation of having it fill up since then.
(Wich kept happening with my 128MB card - small wonder) ;-D

My hardest holiday have been about 9000 images (2 weeks). But: I really remove lots of them. This is my last holiday gallery:

I give out about 400 to the public, I saved myself about 1500 and I shot about 6000...

It happen more often than you might think. Just think about a wave which is running to the front of the rocks where you're standing. Would you wait for the best moment or just hold the trigger? I'm doing the latter so I never lose the good moment. But: for 25 seconds I might have about 300 images...
