In the zone of the ecological disaster (ED) there is no sign of life except tins of salt pork sitting at the sides of the roadways as a dry chemical laden wind blows through the otherwise empty streets. Survivors of the disaster are hiding in their homes. Some go about with masks or bandanas over their mouths and noses to filter the air. Somebody should wake up and smell the vinegar. Chemical hazmat suits are the coming new fashion. But not many among the survivors can afford this luxury. Elderly people might otherwise be rioting but they seem to be too ill with respiratory symptoms, eating disorders and electrolyte, sodium and calcium imbalances to communicate the true nature of their state. It maybe necessary to have troops maintain order and clear away the chemical dust that crusts the urban region.
