Amateur Pride Day

During amateur photographic pride week a photographer is seen waving a "pride" flag and a camera in an urban setting. It is hoped that through these sort of awareness raising events that amateur photographers will not suffer disparagement or abuse, not be relegated to a subordinate or marginalised status simply by virtue of being amateur and that the stigma associated with being amateur will be lifted. It is believed that in spite of the limitations imposed by being amateur that these individuals can and do make a contribution to the advancement of photographic art and science. The large volume of sales of amateur class photographic equipment and supplies does subsidize the production of more technically advanced pro equipment.

I agree with the sentiment. I have been taking photographs for over 35 years, although I have at times made quite a good living from my photography I have alway's considered myself an amateur. Because in that time I have been privaliged to see exhibitions by camera clubs, to give talks to various photographic society's and taught photography, and I have never failed to be humbled by the beauty of the work created by those who have a passion for photography.

"Very much a Amateur without any pride ......very true." / Pea2007

Go to ipaternity.com Mr. P. What are you then, a Professional without any pictures. Play with your camera Mr. P. your evident hatred of amateurs is not welcome here.

You seem to be an amateur sort of man Mr. P., not a real man. Bit too juvenile to be a real man. Grow up Mr. P. , 2007 ended seven years ago.

Are you on the right path here or the wrong path Mr. P. . You could do to have a navigational reality check. Been on FlatteryThing.com for too long.
