Le Soldat Inconnu, Cenotaph, 5th April '13 Ottawa

Shortly after a ceremony commemorating Canadian Australian cooperation during times of war, I obtained this photo of an Excalibur class broad sword of ancient British legend ( aka La Glave de la Justice (see the "Chanson de Roland" en francais)) laying on the top of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with some Roses placed to make a point. Evidence of the cold morning dew of early spring can be seen on the blades cutting edge close to the point. A blade of this type was known to give good cleavage on the field of battle, although its weight and length could tire a man rapidly during a long and hard conflict. It is seen here with grape leaves, perhaps from the grapes of wrath.
