this place is Rossbeigh Beach and on the opposite side is Inch Beach (Where some of the film" Ryan's Daughter " was filmed) and both beaches come out from the shore to meet each other and the is just a narrow channel of water between them and I assume that this tower was some kind of beacon to guide ships through the channel.
