This is how I would think they would be better displayed...

Over the past three years Nottingham has lost hundreds of mature trees to Progress..ie The new tram works and widening of major roads. One area The Meadow had the foresight to save 45 felled trees to have them carved to depict the area... Last week these were unveiled, so we went along to view and photograph them , we were very disappointed as we expected them to be like the North American Totem poles..in fact they were only small and not carved very deeply,...A great Idea not very well executed. They were among the tall trees and so insignificant that we missed two of the twelve ....

What a wonderful idea. We have a friend that was chosen to use the wood from Monticello's trees. The trees were dying and the state decided to remove them before they fell on Thomas Jefferson's home. So now, he will be making boxes from the wood for them to sell at the museum.
