Street nameplates. (See previous photo)

The one on the left is nearly a hundred years old. It is made from cast iron. There are hundreds like this throughout the city. The one on the right is a new one. The city council in it's 'wisdom' is replacing hundreds of the old ones with the new type. The reason: They say the new ones are 'more sustainable' (will last longer with less maintenance)!!
