Again you delight the viewer with such beauty. And this magnificent dragonfly is perfect for bringing sunshine for the day (a rainy day here)
The colors are incredible and one of my favorite compositions is the diagnonal.
This details and lighting - outstanding
An impressive photo. This photo awards you a five ***** rating.
Thank you for posting.
Dragonflies rest with their wings open. Damselflies rest with their wings closed. Which is it Joe? I looked up this information (Wikipedia) last year, wondering what was the difference. I actually thought people in England had a different name for Dragonflies!!! Growing up in Kentucky, we called Dragonfiles....Snake Doctors----a common name for them in Kentucky and Tennessee.
I am certainly no expert on insects Larry, so I will take your word on that piece of information regarding the difference between Damselflies and Dragonflies. However, this being a Photographic site, which I am most concerned about, I was happy to have captured this insect in fairly decent focus. These insects are notoriously difficult to capture in good full focus. I was also attempting to apply some Bokeh to the shot which is not quiet there, but very close. Again, a difficult skill giving the short amount of time these guys allow you, and the bend on the grass I felt made for a good composition. One other very important point, even though I love my English neighbours and always have loved the English public and countryside, I am very much Irish, a difference which may be easier to detect between than a Dragonfly or Damselfly.
