Bell tower of the Royal Orphanage of Buren by "night"
Netherlands, Buren, March 2007

My entry for the Contrast Friday theme is a "by night" picture in contrast to the "by daylight" picture of the same tower (second one at the right).

truly a great contrast
not only a contrast between the 2 photos, i.e. day and night,
but also a great contrast in this one particular photo, such as the colors of the church against the dark sky.
Great entry.

You are not easily misled Jceca!
This "night" picture is just a manipulated version of the daylight picture. I did not have a suitable picture for todays theme, so I took the bell tower picture, reduced the brightness and increased the contrast.
To my surprise I got an acceptable "night" picture!

Thank you so much Jamby!
Mar 16 2007 19:42 GMT senna3
Yes Liz, to my surprise the daylight picture became a fairy-tale picture by a few simple filter operations!
Mar 16 2007 19:59 GMT senna3
Thank you Joe, but as I explaned to Jceca, it is a digital night scene!

Thank you John. This was the first time that I used my Helicon Filter software to CHANGE a picture, rather than to IMPROVE a picture! I was surprised by the result.

Thank you Klingklingeling.

Thank you EuCarlosFilipe.

No Joe, Fotoshop is too advanced for me. I use the free version of Helicon filter. It only provides the basic operations: brightening/darkening, contrast, sharpening, saturation and intensification of colours, despeckling, cropping, and retouching. It is already much more than I need!

Thank you DGM.
