Ruth, Genemuiden lies about 100 km. NE of Amsterdam, somewhere between Zwolle and Meppel. It is a small village (9000 people) with a long history that goes back to the 5th century (then it was called Gelmuda). It got municipal rights in 1275.
Heather, I remember that I wanted to make pictures in this village, but everywhere there were cars and I hate cars in my pictures. So we decided first to have lunch and after lunch, amazingly, all cars had vanished. The village had become a deserted place!

I saw you geese photo Jceca. In some rural parts of the Netherlands you see similar sceneries, but it is true the villages themselves are in general very tidy.
