My Proverb Monday Entry for June 18:
"Die zijn land bebouwt wordt van brood verzadigd, maar die lediggang najaagt wordt zat van armoede" meaning that "If you won't work you shan't eat" or "No mill no meal".

Very nice and original entry.
( I think this proverb is a paraphrase of:
"Die zijn land bouwt, zal met brood verzadigd worden; maar die ijdele mensen volgt, zal met armoede verzadigd worden"
Proverbs 28 vs 19.

Thanks for the link Florine. Yes you are right, it is just a rephrasing of a biblical text!
I have a large collection of proverbs (not sayings, but "true" proverbs, i.e. explicit statements), but I didn't have this one. I am collecting proverbs for 60 years now (started at the age of 7!).

Jceca, I guess that your remark refers to what was indicated in the comments at your proverb entry?

Thank you John.
As Florine pointed out above, it is perhaps not a proverb, but a rephrasing of a biblical text. A better known Dutch (and English) proverb is "Wie niet werkt, zal niet eten".
