I did buy a guide, but it does not help me very much.

I just learnt from a colleague who's a country girl that all mushrooms (might be only in Thailand) which has ring on its trunk are poisioned.
I've never known that 'coz in Bangkok we always buy them to eat! ;))

Poulet, I checked in my European fungus guide and many ring mushroom are poisoned indeed! But there are also exceptions. My guide claims that e.g. the Parasol mushroom http://www.fotothing.com/senna3/photo/013e03f1e301803379031ae51f849b26/ is edible and that its cap is even delicious when young!
