Very nice photo, has a natural look to it, reminds me of NZ's sports emblem, the Silver Fern, which is a fractal also. Nature has a way of making complex patterns out of simple principles just as the photo shows.

Yes, there is a close connection between processes in nature and fractals. The mathematical formulas used to generate fractals also describe processes in nature such as cell grow, propagation of plants and animals, etc.
