I do not know Shalini. I was told that there are many hand positions, all expressing something Buddha has preached during his life. By some reason a few of them are so special that tourists are not allowed to take them out of the country. I have looked in several encyclopedia, but I found nothing about this aspect of Buddha sculptures.
