Facade of the National Museum
Syria, Damascus, May 2009

Unfortunately only a photo of the facade of this beautiful museum. Inside, no photos allowed, even without flash.
The facade of the museum is in fact the entrance to the old Qasr al-Heir al-Gharbi, a desert palace, west of Palmyra dating from 688, the time of the Umayyad Caliph Hisham. It was transported to Damascus stone by stone and reconstructed.
