I wish the FT family a very Happy and Prosperous 2007.

This picture was taken during the New Years celebration
in India, called Pogol. During the Pogol celebration, elephants
are beautifully decorated.

This picture is also my contribution to Proverbmonday
1 January 2007, together with the proverb
"Men moet van een mug geen olifant maken"
"Do not make an elephant of a mosquito"
meaning that one should not overdo things.

Thank you DGM. As soon as I have time I plan to scan all the proverbmonday pictures in order to collect proverbs in the foreign I can understand (English, German and French). But perhaps you are already doing something similar?

Nanstrom, one may have mixed feelings seeing such a beautiful animal with decorations he/she does not need. But we saw when they decorated the elephant and the elephant enjoyed the attention he got, so then we were a bit more at ease!
