Daisy, one of the stories is that this fortress (in fact, a defence tower) was named after a VOC ship (VOC = Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie = United East Indian Company) with the same name Dromedaris (the people of Enkhuizen added a second m). This VOC ship was used by Jan van Riebeeck when he discovered the Cape Colony in South Africa.
