Patrick, Abojovna draw my attention to the GIMP software and that is what I use for the fractals. It also contains easy to use photo editing tools, claimed to be comparable with Photoshop. Free downloads can be obtained at http://www.gimp.org/

Ah, I didn't realize that Claudia. My PC has a 1 GB working memory and I never have problems, even when I am running quite memory intensive chess programs.
