This takes me down memory lane... when I lived in Europe I had a very similar bike - although it didn't have the wonderful pattern on the back wheel (what is that? some kind of cover?)
I also really like the pattern on the wall behind the bike? Is it some traditional ornament?

That is true Dony, the battle of Arnhem became a disaster for the Allies and consequently for a large part of the Netherlands that had hoped for a quick end of the war.

Doris, the coloured cover is called in Dutch a "jasbeschermer" = "overcoat guard". Most city bikes in the Netherlands have these covers, but not so colourful!
The decoration on the wall of the farm is typical for the region where the farm was built. I must confess that I forgot which region.

Jceca, this type of bikes we still have, they are called "Grandmother bikes". The cover is also still there, but made of transparent plastic!
