What a beauty, I wish I could live in a place like this.
Actually it reminds me the village of my childhood.

A very nice photo...I'm thinking Urk is a fishing villiage? I'm also thinking it would be a nice place to visit.

That is true Larry. Urk used to be a tiny island in the Zuiderzee, an inner sea that was connected with the Noordzee (North Sea). But the Zuiderzee was closed by a 40 km long dike and became the IJsselmeer (Yssel Lake). Next the island Urk was connected with a 10 km long dike with the mainland of the Netherlands. Urk is a very nice and still authentic village. We visited it 2 times. I already posted a lot of pictures (all tagged urkx). In the Zuiderzee Museum a part of Urk was duplicated to give visitors an impression! The above picture was taken in the Zuiderzee Museum.
