Lydia, I tried to find out when these little houses were built in their present form, but could not find specific dates. But the village green on which these houses are rebuilt is quite old. The history of Cothen can be traced back to earlier than 1304. At the border of the village green there is castle separated by a brooklet. This castle is the Rhijnestein castle and dates back to 1304 (see http://www.fotothing.com/senna3/photo/2f40bd44a67198e258f0e6987ea4e578/start=21). I guess that at the time part of the personnel working at the castle was living at the village green.
