Florine, you managed to capture a complete heron! I had to react so fast that the first shot produced this one and when zoomed out a bit to catch the whole heron, it flew away.

You may be right Painter. When I took this picture he became uneasy and I think he spotted me. When I zoomed out to get his tail too, he flew away.

I passed this heron on a bike and was already at a distance of about 10 m when I realized that I had a new chance to take a picture after having failed 3 times earlier that day. I did not dare to get off my bike, so in a quite difficult position I had to give it a try. And then again, the heron was alarmed and started to move. This was the best I could make of it. I will continue until I have a picture of a heron including its reflection in the water!

Excellent photograph - I get the feeling of its motion in this photo !
