A great Giethoorn picture !

The houses in Assendelft (municipality Zaanstad) show some resemblance to the Giethoorn houses. Except for the bridges which are so high in order to let the boats pass in Giethoorn. Beautiful picture senna3!

Thank you Anna. We passed Assendelft many times by car, but never visited it. Since a few years we have bicycle carrier for the car so that the whole of the Netherlands has become our bicycle territorium. This summer we plan to explore more of North-Holland including Assendelft.

Great senna3 that you plan to visit Northern Holand. If you type in names such as Alkmaar, Assendelft, Zaanstad, Castricum, Bakkum, Limmen, Egmond aan Zee, Bloemendaal my photos of those places will appear. It may help you to choose where to go! The dunes in between Wijk aan Zee and Castricum and from there to Egmond aan Zee, and from there to Bergen aan Zee are very beautiful too.

Thanks for your information Anna. The coast from Bergen to Den Helder we know very well. During our youth my wife and I lived in Den Helder and in the weekends we often had biking tours, together with our classmates, to Alkmaar and surroundings. But the coast South of Alkmaar and the polders Beemster, Wormer, ... we hardly know.
