The mural on the building looks Roman (as best I can see with the mid-afternoon sun reflecting off it). I'm wondering if one of those bicycles is yours....seems like a nice day to go for a ride (clear sky).

We spent many hours in Alkmaar and visited this point several times hoping the cars parked in front of the Waag would have vanished. Finally, our patience was rewarded!

Larry, we visited Alkmaar on a bike trip indeed, but we left our bikes at the entrance of the old quarter of Alkmaar.
