Yes BRUGGE, it is plaice indeed. You see this at several places in the Zuiderzee museum, but it is just for the tourists to show how life was in former days!

Showing my ignorance once again....what is plaice? I thought these might be giant "dream catchers" in the American Indian tradition!

Larry, I consulted my encyclopedia and I found that the scientific name for plaice is Pleuronectes platessa. It is the most popular of all European flat-fishes. It can grow to 1 m. and it can reach 6 kg. But I have never seen that size!

I looked at the original again and....knowing what to look for....saw that the heads had been removed. Now they look like fish!
