maybe the"" boere"" named it like that because of the long stem....
so straight..... we always say....""die ou mense het altyd gepraat van "Jacob Regop""
whenever we use a phrase not very commen.. :-)))))))

do you understand our Afrikaans humor.... we have a funny humor...I have noticed
on FT... people do not always understand, most countries have different humor..:-)

In Thai we call Zinnia, " Ban Chouen". It means Bloom of happiness. :)))
