Fruit of the Cannonball Tree (Couroupita guianensis)
Malaysia, Penang, Georgetown, April 2011

The fruit of the Cannonball Tree possesses antibiotic, antiseptic and analgesic qualities. It is also used to cure colds and stomach aches. Juice made from the leaves cures skin diseases, and in South America tree parts are used for treating malaria. The inside of the fruit disinfects wounds and young leaves ease toothache: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Couroupita_guianensis

Thank you for sharing this. I wonder if deer find it appetizing! It seems everything we try to plant here is "deer candy". This might put them all to sleep on the front lawn! ;)
