Malaysia (Borneo), Batang Ai, April 2011

The next day we made a long walk, or rather hike, over the island where our hotel was located. This so-called "longhouse" hotel is the only building at the island, the rest is unspoiled rainforest jungle. Borneo, including the Batang Ai district, has the oldest rainforest in the world, 130 million years old, 70 million years older than the Amazon rainforest.

My first look of Borneo through your eyes. When I was younger and my hair was unruly and way too curly I always joked about the fact that I looked like "the wild woman on Borneo"...these photos made me smile !!!

Larry, Borneo is very near to the equator, not much temperature difference all over the year ( http://www.climatetemp.info/malaysia/sandakan-borneo.html ). It was not the heat that was inconvenient (about 30 degrees C), but the humidity (85%). We wanted to change clothing a few times per day, but that was not possible with the many excursions we made.
