Het Kerkje aan de Zee (Little Church at the Sea) anno 1786
Netherlands, Urk, Febr. 2011

"Het Kerkje aan de Zee" is a symbol for the people of Urk.
It was built in 1600, but already after 30 years, by one of the many floodings of the island Urk, it got its own tiny island, 30 m. away from what was left of Urk. People could only reach the church by wading or by boat. In 1786 it was rebuilt at its present place as shown in the picture. The clock of this church dates back to 1461.
