Ovenbird and Frosty Grass: The Ovenbird is an accidental specie in Oregon and it is unusual to see one foraging among crisp leaves and lawns in 28 degree F weather in Portland on an early January morning. This individual has become a minor celebrity among area birders who have been enjoying a chance to see this wood-warbler so far from its typical areas. Normal wintering range includes Mexico, Central America, Florida and the Caribbean Islands.

A great series of bird images Scott. It seems that many species of birds are showing up in habitats that are well outside there usual places. In Ireland recently a pair of nesting white egrits were seen close to where I live in Tralee, Co. Kerry, and while a local bird expert (Don King - you can look him up on the Radio Kerry web site) says they used to be commen on our west coast it has been over 75 years since there were any recorded sightings. My ambition is to get some good images this spring.
