Each year the elephant seals return to the Morro Bay area to bread and have their young. These pictures were taken in the beach above Morro Bay at San Simean, Calfornia. There is thousands of them all along the coast. It is a beautiful thing to express the power of nature in this way..

i am glad you had a day where the air was clear. we have a place here too, close to santa cruz, california where thousands of them come every year, but they stir up so much sand that it is impossible to get a clear picture

Ron...great photograph....until you've seen some of these elephant seals, you can't imagine how big they are....I remember feeding the seals on the pier in Monterey, Ca.....many years ago...

Your right Junne. The are always throwing sand in the air to keep cool (I think).

WE HAVE SPENT MANY HOURS VISITING THE GREAT ANIMALS. FOR YEARS, WE HAVE GONE TO LOOK AT THEM. THE ADULT MALES ARE AS BIG AS VW BUGS !! IT'S SO UNREAL !! LOVE THE PICTURE. HE LOOKS LIKE HE IS LOOKING AROUND TO MAKE SURE NO OTHER MALE IS INFRINGING ON HIS HAREM.
