This is a picture I took 14 years ago of my wife's grandmother. It was for a portfolio of black and white pictures I used for a City & Guilds qualification I was trying to achieve. The picture was titled "In Reflection" which is why I thought it would be apt to upload it. The picture was taken in my pre-digital days so the quality of the scan might hold it back a little. Hope you like it.

	Oct 10 2012 17:41 GMT Petermosull This is an excellant reportage/social documentory image and of course a great reflectionthursday entry. I don't know what kind of scanner or software you used to digitise your image, but if it helps, I find it best to scan black and white images with the scanner settings on colour image. This gives you a full RGB digital file which allows for greater control with the edit, esp. for contrast and tone. I am a long term fan of Ansell Adams and his belief that every B & W image should contain every tone from pure black to pure white, with all the greys falling into place to create the best tonal content. You will aleay's be able to achieve this with RGB files converted using Photoshops Black & White adjustment tool.
