I love to use colour with black & white, been doing it long before photoshop was invented, used to spend hours in the darkroom doing this with cibachromes

Thank you twsottawan, I think the rock gives added perspective to the composition, it's also a part of some ancien standing stones in a very remote location at teh foot of Mt. Brandon & was the reason I was there taking pictures

We like the way the colour and b/w is on this photo and we didnt know photoshop had this facility great photo.
Aug 16 2009 09:16 GMT pmosull
Thank you dee & dave, I like to use this technique once in a while, I do it by creating a copy layer, converting that to B&W then erasing the relevant parts to allow the colour to show through from the underlying original layer

Interesting!!.. I love B&W it classic for me and I thing if I shooted this shot the big rock is my foreground and you can used dept of field with subject and background.

Well done!!.. friend. ';))
Aug 17 2009 17:05 GMT pmosull
Thank you so much for the comment, I shoot mostly in aperture priority & use small apertures as much as possible to maximise depth-of-field, or conversly, with long lenses I will use a wide aperture to throw the background out of focus
