In a Poor Mans God We Trust


we believe in allah
we believe in ram
we believe in christ
the poor mans god we trust
a god who is fair and just
a god who gives us our daily bread
or we would go bust
beg we must
blown by the winds of humanity
little specks of dust
at the St Michaels traffic signal
out of the car windows
a few coins they thrust
we are thankful for little mercies
life could have been worst
we are made of a molten iron
tears that will not rust
