Giant Leopard Moth Caterpillar
I found this in the woods crawling over fallen leaves. When I got close, it grabbed a leaf and curled around it.
I had to look this one up and have never seen the adult moth. The cat did have the orange bands when seen from a different angle.

I have seen the adult moth on two occasions...one of which is when I held one of these little wooly cats hostage and waited for it to change. I kept the critter for about two months LOL!! It was like a little pet for us and I even bought special plants to feed it!! One day, it finally did change. I took pics and set it free. That as in the pre-SLR days so the pics aren't the best.
