Our electricity shut off on Monday night; Tuesday a huge tree fell very close and the noise was frightening. We were very lucky and have no damage. There has been such devastation in towns not far from us. Some towns have power and go a bit further and no electricity.
8.5 million people in 19 states lost their power and many are still without.
My husband's co-worker lost his home and car.
A short distance away people had to evacuate their homes and they have severe water damage. Two stores nearby us are open because they have their own generators. All the other shops are closed. There is one supermarket that has been open -- it never lost power. When you drive in your car one block is ok with traffic lights and the next -- no lights. Now, there is talk of a Nor'easter on Wednesday. The idea of there being more rain and maybe snow is horrible.
Update: The gas situation got much better on Monday, Nov. 5th and we were able to fill up. Nor-easter struck on Nov. 7th, Wed. afternoon -- power went out again for many who had just got it back.
