This is a drone(male bee). This is a rare shot, because normally there are less than one percent drones in the bee population. They do not work in the colony nor do they visit flowers. During the summer they are acepted in all bee colonies (workers are only accepted in their own colony). At the end of the summer, when there are no problems with the queen in the colony, the drones are no longer permitted in the colony and they die from starvation. For the beekeeper, this 'drone slaughter' is a good sign: the colony is in good condition.
