Last June 21, our province was hit by a typhoon lasting to more than 17 hours and brought about so many hundreds of deaths in our province alone (a passenger vessel sunk in another part of the country), hundreds still missing and thousands homeless. These are scenes I was able to take shots of.

I heard that the owner of this house's wife just gave birth to a baby and just got back home a day before the typhoon and this is what happened to their house. Don't know where they are now.

Still there are dried up muds alongside the streets and thanks also for the aid given by the people from other parts of our country and from the Americans and others whom are not made known but had given their help and support the people here are coping.

Naku grabe naman ito! Kawawa naman ang mga kababayan natin dyan sa Iloilo. Balak pa naman sana namin mag bakasyon dyan this December. Hardest hit pa yung mga place ng mga kamag-anak ko sa Jaro at Janiuay. Sana maka recover agad ang mga Ilonggo!

Ay oo! Dun talaga grabe ang baha! Sabi sa news last time mga 2010 pa maka fully recover ang Iloilo! Grabe kasi ang nangyari eh...sa agriculture marami din ang damaged! Infrastructure (mga bridge na nasira at mga bahay) grabe din! Kawawa talaga ang mga kababayan natin dito ngayon. Busy pa ang mga firetrucks ngayon cleaning up the schools .

It is sad, Elise! Like Ruedi said, this house is made of nipa (a kind of palm tied together used for the roofing while the body and flooring of the house is usually made of bamboo) which is a very light material and not strong enough for typhoons but then we just can't stand to see such a damage.
