The carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua) is a typical Mediterranean tree belonging to the Leguminosae family.
It grows in arid Eastern Mediterranean areas.
In these regions, it occurs in climax forests.

"Climax" = Condition for which a plant association reaches its peak and remains in that condition until an external cause not break the 'equilibrium.
