Fascinating landscape photo!

It is fascinating when you are driving for hours thru flat prairie fields and then come across the badlands. They are a few hours from where I live but well worth the trip there.

Any idea why this area is labeled "Bad Lands?"

I am not really sure why they are called the "Badlands", but nothing much grows there, its like a desert, They filmed a fair amout of Quest for Fire there, parts of The Unforgiven, and there was a Don Johnson movie but not sure which one it was. I will have to look into how it got its name because now I am curious myself!

Wonderful image and amazing rock formations ;-)))

Its so neat, you go from flat out praires where you can see for miles in every direction and then the badlands hit ya! The hoodoos have been forming themselves for thousands of years. Thanks for your comments Cooler.
