Interesting "on the spot" photo!
We actually had a somewhat large earthquake here just a couple of days ago!
It was nowhere as big as the one in China though, but some people were hurt when they tried to run outdoors and could not keep their footing on the undulating ground.
Everything - absolutely everything - in people´s homes was thrown to the ground/floor and there was some structural damage to buildings in the two (small) towns closest to the epicentre (50km from Reykjavik), but no collapse.
I myself happened to be lying down when the quake hit (although it was in the afternoon). I immediately sprung up and placed myself in a doorway (just in case it would get worse). I live on the 8th floor and apart from the shaking I could feel the building swaying beneath me! -Very strange, to say the least!
