Etoshia.... what a famous place... so open.... so dry.... so beautiful...
to think the animals survive.....
I really miss the game parks in SA.... nothing can ever come near a
safari holiday.. :-))
Luckily they have man made water holes that they keep filled with water. From underground lakes. I saw a white rhino with her baby at one in the middle of the night - and a young male lion was hanging around in the bushes not far away. It was dark but I could make out his shape and see his glowing eyes - WONDERFUL. I thought SA still had game parks?
The best sighting was of a herd playing in a water hole - with babies in tow too. It was a long way off but with binoculars we got good viewing. Then we saw a large group of emus heading for the same waterhole later that day. Oh and a side striped jackel - looking for food!
South Africa has many National Game Parks, Lizzie... I only miss it
because we are in Nashville at present.... visiting our kids here in USA...
we will be here until January !!!
Definately Lynn - and the giraffes are amazing too to see in their natural habitat. Infact all wild life is better seen in the wild. The only good things about zoo's is the conservation work and teaching people to value animals.
