The 'Tradescantia Virginiana' (Spiderwort) is considered a weed where I live. They 'spring up' in the lawn much faster than the grass (between mowings). This one was on the pond bank, but they are all over...here and there!

Fleur, I've noticed that the majority of the flowers on weeds in my lawn are purplish in color. I have wondered why........must be one of nature's favorite colors.

Thank you very much Jake. It was a "ho-hum" photo taken just as sprinkles of rain began to fall. The background is the pond reflecting the grey sky and a little bit of a tree across the creek. All editing done with Picasa3.

Thank you Barbara. After I added sharpness to the photo, I ran it through the pencil sketch filter, then boosted it a little to get back some color. I put on several layers of borders and then softened it to get the look it has now.

Anna-Maria, I've been trying to figure out how to gather the seeds before my grandson pulls up the plant. They grow faster than the grass and therefore, taller.
